A Santa Clara University undergraduate majoring in Mathematics must fulfill the standard University and College Core Curriculum requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has specified that the science requirement of the core curriculum is fullfilled by taking Physics 31 and 32 (and the corresponding lab).

A student majoring in mathematics must take seven upper-division courses in mathematics or computer science, including the following:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a program providing an emphasis in applied in applied mathematics for students who wish to prepare themselves for (1) careers in industry, or (2) graduate work in applied mathematics. The choice of program requirements was made in consultation with past graduates who have indicated the theoretical and technical needs for success "on the job."
Participation in the program is noted on the student's transcript.
All students in the program must complete the University and College of Arts and Sciences requirements for a B.S. in Mathematics, and in particular:
Actuarial Mathematics is the study and practice of the mathematics of the insurance business, which is a chief employer of students with strong mathematics backgrounds. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a program providing a more specialized emphasis in actuarial mathematics for students who wish to prepare themselves for careers in this field, and in particular, for the initial examinations required for employment as an actuary.
Participation in the program is noted on the student's transcript.
All students in the program must complete the University and College of Arts and Sciences requirements for a B.S. in Mathematics with the Emphasis in Applied Mathematics (as described above), with the following specifications and additions:

A student minoring in mathematics must take three upper-division courses in mathematics, but no more than one of Math 165 or 166. An upper-division computer science course may be substituted in place of Math 165 or 166.
