Assessment (approx.)
Midterm I (Fri. Oct. 16)  20 or 25% (to your advantage)
Midterm II (Wed. Nov. 11)  25 or 20% (respectively)
Homework (Virtually daily) & Quizzes   15%
Final Exam (Wed. Dec. 9, 6:30pm)  40%

Midterms and Final Make-up tests are forbidden under departmental policy. Taking a midterm early is negotiable but not guaranteed for foreseen excused absences, but university policy forbids taking a final exam early. Unforeseen excused absences for midterms may be covered by the corresponding portion of the final exam.

Homework Homework may be submitted in class or in the appropriate envelope outside my office. Homework must be submitted by 3pm on the due date. (The time may be changed, depending on the convenience of the grader.) No late homework will be graded. (Partial credit may be given for homework submitted prior to the next class period.) Homework should be neat, and folded longitudinally with your name visible on the outside.

Quizzes Every week or two, depending on how things go. Topics (and maybe questions) will be revealed in class in advance. They cannot be made up for any reason, but the lowest one of every five or fraction thereof will be dropped.

Attendance University regulations require attendance and allow penalties for absences at the discretion of the instructor. Students with more than 3 unexcused absences are liable to have their final grades revised downward. (cf. Undergraduate Bulletin)

Academic Integrity It is assumed that students are familiar with the university's policy concerning academic integrity and possible sanctions for the violation thereof. See the Undergraduate Bulletin. Students in the Engineering School should also consult the Bulletin for the Engineering School Honor Code.
