Math 169 Midterm I Study Page
Some "study topics" for Midterm #1.
- Descriptions of new vocabulary words used in the course.
- Compare/contrast languages seen thus far with each other in
terms of data types, arithmetic operators, allocation schemes,
possibility of recursion, etc.
- Interpret (i.e. "run" in your mind) a program (-segment)
given in a language.
- Use a set of grammar rules to derive a string.
- Determine whether a grammar is ambiguous.
- Develop a set of grammar rules corresponding to some prose
description.
- Compare/contrast various parameter passing strategies.
- Answer questions about basic COBOL program structures or
"data structures."
- Answer questions of what the output looks like based on
certain COBOL "pic" clauses and input values moved in and out.
- Translate code from C++ into COBOL (or vice versa).
DISCLAIMER: The above list is NOT exclusive. There may be
topics on the test NOT listed above. There may be topics above
not on the test.
NOTE: You might also want to consult the "DEFINITION STUDY PAGE FOR
MATH 169 FINAL" by Anees Khatri found in the Class Notes right before
the INDEX pages. HOWEVER, remember that that study page has not been
proof-read and double-checked for accuracy.
