What is definitely not allowed is to turn in programs that are identical in logic, variable names, comments, spacing, etc., except for the student's name.
Assisting a classmate is a very good thing to do. Collaborating to the point of turning in identical programs is not, unless it is explicitly permitted.
If two (or more) students turn in programs which are substantially identical for an assignment that is NOT a ``team'' assignment, ALL THOSE WITH IDENTICAL CODE will receive a grade of zero on that assignment. In addition, participants in this sort of collaboration may be referred to the University Disciplinary Council for further sanctions.
PLEASE REMEMBER: According to the syllabus, each student may ask for two extensions AT MOST for a program during the quarter! The extensions must be requested at least two days before the due date!! With this restriction, people sometimes have to make a choice: (1) ask for an extension (for no longer than a couple days); (2) turn in a running program late (with the associated penalty as listed in the syllabus, i.e., 25% off if turned in on the same day, or 50% off if turned in the day); or (3) turn in an incomplete program on time.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO TURN IN SOMETHING!! It can be discouraging not to be able to eliminate all errors from a program, but it is better to turn in, even a rough draft of a program than not to turn in anything at all!
