Topics

This is not an exclusive list. It is merely meant to highlight some of the major topics covered during the first weeks of the course. Since it is difficult to do anything in this course without knowing the basic structures in any programming language (e.g., subprograms, parameter passing schemes in C++, loops, boolean conditions, etc.), please know that the foundational information about to scientific programming languages (e.g., data types, arithmetic operations) could be included on the first exam. For sample problems, you may wish to review Homeworks 1 and 2, and the examples in the chapters and auxiliary notes listed above.
