Connecting to the Math HP Server using Reflection X Software

Reflection-X is software for Windows that enables Unix X-Windows Graphics to be displayed in separate windows better than Novell's X-Server Software. The use of X-Server with "Octave" graphics may cause X-Server to crash!

Reflection-X may be downloaded and used for 60-days from the WRQ website at: http://www.wrq.com/products/evaluate/download/sxchoice.html It is usuable only with direct internet connections, and not with dialup modem to modem connections.

Reflection-X is available in the O'Connor labs. To use it,

• Click on the Reflection Folder on the Desktop.
• Click on the Connect to math.scu.edu icon.
• A pop-up window will appear. Enter your correct username and password on click on OK.
• Another pop-up window will appear. Do not enter anything in the white space, but merely click on SEND.
• If you are using TCSH-shell and get the TERM=(vt100) prompt, enter hpterm as the terminal type.
