Software Settings for MI/X Server for Windows

XDM Connection (For KDE/CDE interface)

Right click on the top blue bar, and then click on Preferences.

Click on the MEASURE screen and then set the size of the monitor to the appropriate number. If you encounter problems, try setting it to 21'' even if that is not the screen size.

Click on the XDM screen. Set the machine node name to pascal and the connection type to query.

Invoking MI/X will automatically start up the KDE/CDE interface with the pascal Linux server.

Telnet Connection

Right click on the top blue bar, and then click on Preferences.

Click on the MEASURE screen and then set the size of the monitor to the appropriate number.

Click on the XDM screen. Set the machine node name to pascal and the connection type to none.

Go to the Windows prompt, then invoke run and run the telnet software. Note the IP number on the blue bar (beginning with 129.210). After you log in, type

setenv DISPLAY 129.210.xxx.yyy:0
where xxx.yyy are replaced by the correct numbers from the blue bar on your machine.

When you invoke xemacs a separate window will appear. The original window may minimize, though.
