General Information
Unix/Linux Notes
These web pages are meant only as a brief overview to Unix.
Any regular Unix/Linux user should obtain a personal copy of a
Unix or Linux reference book for personal use, and make use of
the on-line tutorials available and referenced below.
These pages also reflect the "flavor" of Unix as found on the
HP server (named "math") of the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science,
which may be slightly different than versions of Unix found
on Sun workstations, SGI workstations, and other machines. They also
reflect the "flavor" of Linux (Mandrake) found on the Linux server
(named "pascal") of the Department.

On-Line CDE (Common Desktop Environment) Tutorials
CDE is an alternative, graphical and icon environment for Unix
workstations which bears some resemblance to Windows. Via X-Server,
