Brief Bio I am the Valeriote Professor of Science at Santa Clara University and former chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. I am also the Former President and past Secretary of the Mathematical Association of America. (I was President of the MAA between January 1997 and January 1999.) I am currently the Associate Director of the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition and edit the Spectrum Series of books for the MAA.
